#11: Top 5 best looking things to eat in Dublin this week

Words: Emily Mullen

From jumbo prawns to macerated strawbs

It might have rained enough for an entire Summer over the last few days, but if the Big Weather app is to be believed we are in for another heatwave over the coming weeks. With a date for a resumption to indoor dining still under consideration and debate, this will be the perfect time to get booking and enjoy some outdoor dining. Here are five things in Dublin this week that we like the look of:

5.

BuJo’s Black Pudding Burger

This isn’t your average collaboration, BuJo have only gone and secured Irish scrumhalf Conor Murray to help create a limited-edition burger for them. Keen to showcase some of his home provinces produce, the Munster man selected some excellent producers to feed into his burger. Two chargrilled beef patties have been made up with Sneem black pudding, Cahill‘s chive cheddar, Three Men in a Trailer‘s smoked ketchup, balsamic glazed caramelised onions and baby gem. It looks like a pretty meaty and tangy number, but listen if it’s good enough for the British and Irish Lions captain. The limited-edition burger is available for “just a few weeks”, from BuJo’s two spots in Dublin 4’s Sandymount Green and their new Click & Collect Kitchen Junction 6 in Castleknock, for more information visit their Instagram.

Little Bird’s Buddha Bowl

Little Bird’s buddha bowl is a pretty solid order to ask for if you ever find yourself in the Dublin 8 vegetarian cafe come yoga studio. The team at Little Bird generally change the bowl a little each week depending on the products available and the seasons, this week has a slight BBQ twist to it. Crunchy chickpea, grilled courgette, red cabbage slaw, roasted corn salsa, with miso garlic brown rice and dressed leaves, topped with a smoky tahini dressing. You can find Little Bird in Dublin 8’s Portobello, follow them on Instagram.

Juniors’s Panna Cotta

Juniors have crafted their version of the legendary Italian dessert panna cotta, with coconut and Madagascan vanilla, topping it with macerated Wexford strawberries and added some zingy lime and freshly cracked black pepper. This dessert is part of the Bath Avenue restaurant’s new menu which was created by head chef Fiachra Kenny. The new lineup draws inspiration from in-season produce (like the strawbs) alongside the summer season’s produce of peas and delicate greens, tomatoes and fresh stone fruits. “Cooking food to compliment the season, using light flavours and opposing colours present in the seasonal produce to create summertime dishes,” Kenny said. You can find Juniors on Dublin 4’s 2 Bath Avenue, follow them on Instagram for more information.

Nice Burger’s The Big Dipper

A sure-fire way to elevate any food item is to dip it in melted cheese, Nice Burger know the drill and have dipped one of their burgers in the molten gold goo. The Big Dipper is a double cheeseburger, with naughty sauce and pickle, that’s been partially dunked into melted cheese sauce. This cheesy monster is available on Deliveroo and in house from Eatyard, The Bernard Shaw and The Lighthouse until the end of July, for more information visit Nice Burger’s Instagram page.

Jaru’s Jumbo Prawn Mandu

Online grocery store Jaru has been selling some unbelievable Korean dishes to the people of South Dublin for a while now. Born out of owner Gunmoo Kim’s college project in DIT Cathal Brugha Street, Jaru combines Irish produce with traditional Korean family recipes. Their special this week is a jumbo prawn mandu served with a soy-ginger dip. The dip looks perfectly sweet and light, while the gigantic prawns have been artistically shoved into the dumpling casing. You can find Jaru in Rathfarnham’s Nutgrove Enterprise Park, for more information about online ordering visit their website.
