Indie Taqueria Opens New Northside Eatery
Salsa has opened its third eatery on North King Street in Dublin 7. North King Street is the main street that goes from Stoney Batter past the Cobblestone and Soup 2.
Between these businesses, the adjacent Bonobo and now Salsa, this little corner of Dublin 7 has become a destination culinary location. As stans of Dublin 7, we love to see it!
Salsa opened in the IFSC in Dublin in 2019. It became well known for its authentic Mexican-style tacos, hearty portion sizing, and solid vegetarian options.
They announced their new opening over the weekend in an Instagram post. In it, they invited customers to pop in for tacos, gringas or chilaquiles. Gringas is a typical Mexican dish made with flour tortillas filled with al pastor marinated pork meat, cheese, and, most commonly, pineapple slices.
Chilaquiles are often conflated with nachos. Nachos are hard tortilla chips eaten with your hands. They derive most of their flavour from the blanket of melted cheese. On the other hand, chilaquiles are softened tortilla chips, not at all crispy, and eaten with a fork.
Salsa originally opened in the IFSC in Dublin 1 before expanding first to Parnell Street, which subsequently closed. Then to Talbot street, which closed last week due to “unforeseen circumstances”. Their IFSC branch remains open, and they also recently opened their first restaurant outside of Dublin, in Galway.
Salsa is open seven days a week at each location from 11:30 and is also available on Deliveroo.
