We’re reflecting on the exciting news and little bits and bobs we’ve enjoyed this week.
From new openers to tasty treats we’re obsessed with and and down bad for, here are just some of the bits and bobs we’re loving right now— in no particular order.
Be still my beating heart! This masterpiece is so precious—the ultimate in Irish childhood nostalgia, but in a gorgeous and luxurious presentation. Hey Jude just announced that these bad boys will be dropping soon and we will certainly be sat, waiting patiently. They’ve poured so much hard work and love into the design, and it’s clearly paid off because these pieces are to die for!
Bar 1661 is one of the best cocktail bars on the entire island, and so the news that they are opening a second venue in Dublin city centre is cause for mass celebration. Founder Dave Mulligan spilled the beans at an event recently and Ali Dunworth, reported on Kitchen Press that he is super excited about the new venture, which will be taking up residence at the old Sackville Lounge just off O’Connell Street. Dave says he’s looking forward to reviving the iconic building.
In the past, if you found yourself hankering for brunch on a Sunday, you’d know the pang of sadness that came from realising The Fumbally was off the cards. For the past 12 years, the crew has taken a well-earned day of rest on Sundays. Now they’re opening their doors to hungry guests on the Sabbath. Worship at the temple of tastiness as they are running a small version of their weekday menu along with special Sunday exclusives.
You’ve seen the Dubai chocolate all over your socials. You’re probably curious, but no chocolate bar could be good enough to justify flying all that way, right? Luckily, you can get a taste of the experience here at home. These Sugar Plum Fairies are making hefty slabs of pistachio- and kataifi-loaded milk chocolate bars. It’s impossible to say if it’s a perfect replica without comparing it to the OG, but it’s gosh darn tasty regardless.
Margadh, the sister of Mamó in Howth, is a gorgeous café-come-wine bar-come-stunning restaurant. They are known for their great-value tasting menus, but if you get a chance on Sunday, check out their anti-Sunday lunch. A lighter and more refined alternative to the traditional roast, this lineup features a stuffed chicken breast for each diner, duck en croûte, plus mashed potatoes and salad to share—for €32 a head.
A new opening is always a tremendously exciting occasion—even more so when we’re talking about tapas. The team here are blending tradition with a contemporary edge. If you’re in the area, pop in and check it out for a casual meal or a date night, brimming with Spanish dishes and wines galore.
Behold the beauty of The Sugar Dealer’s supply—decadent layers of cake, fillings, and mousse, all encased in gloriously lush, shiny, chocolatey glaze. In a wild array of enchanting designs, shapes, and colours, it’s more than cake—it’s a work of art. A very tasty work of art that’s oh-so-satisfying to cut into. The flavours are innovative, surprising, and delicate combinations that will take you on a little journey.
