CHAR And ALDI Are Hosting Summer Uncorked

Words: Tobi Ilori

The exciting after-work event lands at 34 Pearse Street on Thursday, June 18th, with wines, cocktails, and picky bits from ALDI,District DJs and ALDI Wine Ambassador Tom Doorley on hand.

Your Thursday evening plans have just improved.

On Thursday, June 18th, CHAR and ALDI are coming together for Summer Uncorked, a Summer Drinks & Nibbles Evening at 34 Pearse Street from 6pm to 9pm.

Think after-work drinks, but with better nibbles, better chat, a specially designed wine glass to take home, and significantly less “where are we actually going?” vibes.

There will be vibrant summer rosés, standout refreshing white wines, sparkling spritz, and award winning Irish gin and whiskey cocktails, all served alongside a menu of flavour-packed picky bits from the best of Irish food ALDI has to offer.

So yes, there will be food.

Proper bits.

Whats Happening?

The free of charge evening is built around good drinks, good food and the gentle belief that a Thursday can still be rescued.

ALDI will be pouring a summer-ready drinks selection, including vibrant summer rosé, refreshing white wines, sparkling spritz, Irish gin and whiskey cocktails. We’ve created an aperitivo style picky bits menu designed to be enjoyed alongside whatever is in your glass.

Perish the idea this is just a giant sit-down dinner situation.

It is more “a few very good bits with a drink in hand,” which, to be fair, is often the better version of an after-work plan anyway.

Tom Doorley Will Be There

ALDI Wine Ambassador Tom Doorley will be on hand throughout the evening to answer questions, share recommendations and guide guests through the selection.

This is ideal if you have ever looked at a bottle and said “nice label” because that was the full extent of your wine knowledge.

Ask the questions. Learn a thing or two. Pretend you were always a wine savant.

Easy To Get To, Handy To Stay For

The event is taking place at 34 Pearse Street, which is very handy if you’re already in town.

Heading towards Drury Street after work? Come here first. Catching a DART from Tara Street? You are basically in the neighbourhood. Pretending you were “just passing” even though you clearly registered for a free drinks event? Also fine.

It is close enough to town to make sense, but just far enough from the usual after-work chaos to feel like a better decision.

What Else?

Every guest will receive a specially designed wine glass inspired by contemporary wine bar culture, along with a few extra treats to take home (did someone say ALDI vouchers).

There will also be music from District Magazine DJs, so the evening should feel less like a stiff tasting event and more like a genuinely sound summer plan.

Dancing is not mandatory.

But it is absolutely encouraged.

In other words: come by, grab a glass, eat something nice, ask Tom Doorley your wine questions, and make a Thursday feel like it had more ambition than usual.

CHAR x ALDI: Summer Uncorked takes place at 34 Pearse Street on Thursday, June 18th, from 6pm to 9pm.

Expect ALDI wines, gin and whiskey cocktails, picky bits, Tom Doorley on wine duty, District DJs, a specially designed wine glass and a few treats to take home.

Free tickets are available via Eventbrite.

This is an alcohol-focused event, so guests must be 18+.
