Prosecco is the true champion of the drinks world. Whether you’re celebrating, gossiping, or just indulging in a little treat for no reason at all, Prosecco is there. This slightly more affordable, refreshingly light Italian cousin to Champagne is still elegant, but more accessible — and, depending on your taste, possibly even yummier.
Today is National Prosecco Day, and while we don’t really need an excuse to crack open a crisp, bubbly bottle, it’s the perfect time to raise a glass to this fizzy favourite. You can of course pop open a delightful bottle at home but if you prefert to grab a glass out on the town, here are five spots in Dublin where you can enjoy your bubbly in style.

Somewhat of a hidden gem, this basement hideaway is the perfect spot for a low-key catch-up with friends. With a huge selection of wines by the glass and rows of bottles on the shelves that you can handpick yourself, it’s a wine lover’s paradise. Even better, from Sunday to Tuesday, corkage for the bottles on the shelf is just €1. The food menu offers a perfect selection of Italian dishes, pizzas, and some of the best charcuterie around. It’s the ultimate spot for a “girl dinner” and a good gossip session.
Two Faced Square
This cool spot on Montague Street is the place to be for laid-back vibes. Tucked away between the hustle and bustle of Harcourt Street and hustle-ier bustle of Camden Street, it’s an oasis any time of day. They serve up coffee and sandwiches in the A.M., but when it’s party o’clock, it transforms into a wine bar. You can choose from a solid selection of wines by the glass and enjoy a spread of small plates and tinned fish — perfect for a casual, yet chic, drink and nibbles. The intimate space invites mingling, with guests often spilling out onto the street when the weather is fine.

This is the perfect spot to sit in absolute comfort and ponder the events of your day. It’s all about elegant luxury, but still manages to be laid-back and inviting. Whether you’re sharing a few bottles with friends or enjoying a peaceful moment with a good book, the homely surrounds and calm atmosphere make it an ideal retreat. It’s also a prime people-watching spot. There’s no better feeling than perching yourself in the large bay window overlooking a busy Camden Street, a refreshing glass of bubbly in hand, and feeling utterly grateful for this serene moment of calm.
