South Anne Street and other city center streets will become permanently pedestrianised

Implementation is due to kick in by the June Bank Holiday
The successful pestrianisation trial of five Dublin city streets last Summer will turn into a permanent feature this year. With Dublin City Council members passing a wide-ranging motion on pedestrianisation in the city, during a council meeting on April 12.
Fine Gael Councilor Colm O’Rourke shared the results of the motion put forward by himself and eight other Dublin City Council members, which called for the permanent pedestrianisation, trial pedestrianisation, and suggested pedestrianisation of many streets in Dublin.
This range of pedestrianisation is due to come into effect by the June Bank Holiday, when South Anne Street, Dame Court, parts of Drury Street, and South William Street will become permanently traffic-free while, Merrion Row, Mary Street, and parts of Capel Street will be closed to vehicular traffic on a trial basis during the Summer.
The motion called for more inner-city streets to be considered, based on the forecasted increase in demand for outdoor dining, Parliament Street, Fade Street, South Frederick Street, Wicklow Street, Stephen’s Street Lower, St Andrew’s Street, Parnell Street, Jervis Street, and Dawson Street were all put forward.
The motion also includes calls for “clear measure to support musicians and artists in outdoor settings across the city center” as part of the “outdoor Summer strategy”.
O’Rourke tweeted “Good news today for outdoor dining and enjoying the outdoors this summer, in a safe way, in Dublin City”.
