Roots open a second location in Greystones

The new shop will be located at the Boatyard beside Burrito Box. In an interview with CHAR, they said they were ‘happy to be joining the area in its zenith.’

The good boys of breakfast are taking over from Juice Box, so in homage, they have added three yet-to-be-named juices to their menu. Their OG cult classic dragon fruit and acai bowl will also be a stalwart mainstay of the new menu.

Roots first opened in Monkstown a little over a year ago. Founded by Conor Griffin and Dave Meehan the little healthy breakfast-truck-that-could was named one of our best breakfasts in Dublin the same year they opened.

The team import their acai directly from Brazilian farmers, and it contains no colours, flavours or artificial preservatives. Most Acai in Ireland is sourced from the same importer, who sells it preformatted into a sorbet for storage and distribution reasons. While this is still good, the extra work it takes to import fresh unaltered acai from South America in your first year of business is both notable and exemplary.

The duo had been doing the travelling food truck thing between UCD market and such but dropped that to focus on this second permanent location when it became available about a month ago. On Instagram, they said they had been “working very hard behind the scenes to Rootify this beautiful Frankenstein of horseboxes, and bring the people of Greystones some fine superfood smoothie bowls, speciali-teas and a new rooty tooty juicy menu!”

The team hasn’t struggled for staff despite the expansion taking on locals from Greystones and a well recommended. They’ll be opening on Friday at 07.30 and are “very much looking forward to meeting a lovely new community”.
