Mad Yolks opens its new home tomorrow

Words: Shamim de Brún

Mad Yolks open their a new permanent home in Smithfield square tomorrow March 3.

This new venue is located in central Smithfield adjacent to the Jameson Distillery Bow Street and near the Lighthouse cinema. Opening hours will be 08:00 -16:00 Monday to Friday and 09:00 – 16:00 on the weekend.

The new menu will include all the former favourites sandwiches and will also deliver Monday to Friday to anywhere in Dublin city. They have axed chips from their menu. Instead, they will be offering “a few new special menu items” that will remain a mystery till tomorrow.

Launched by brothers Hugh and Eoin O’Reilly in 2018, Mad Yolks started as an independent food truck touring around music festivals and weekend markets. They progressed to a two-month popup, but slowly Mad Yolks became a fully-fledged undertaking. For three years, the team toured Dublin city.

After closing on September 19 2021 without a new venue lined up for the first time in two years, they were free to focus on finding a home of their own. They signed the dotted line over a month ago and began a custom refurb.
