Drippin’ Gravy just opened its doors this week at the Pillar Bar, and they’re serving up some seriously saucy dishes.
The menu at Drippin’ Gravy is all about comfort food classics with a twist. We’re talking duck fat roasties, honey roast carrots, and bone gravy so thick you could practically swim in it. They’re also serving up roastaritos.
Rostaritos are a relatively new phenomenon which is basically wrapping up a whole Sunday lunch in a burrito. Originally developed as a take-out meal or a quick pub lunch in the UK, this take on the burrito features succulent roast beef (and occasionally vegetables) rolled up in a flattened Yorkshire pudding wrapper. Diners eat the meal burrito-style, served with a side of gravy for dipping.
Unlike its spiced, salsa-doused counterpart, this burrito is on the mild side. In fact, purist fans of both Mexican and traditional roasts have expressed their objections. But for those looking for a gravy-soaked dinner in a portable package, this pudding pouch shapes up to be the perfect comfort food wrapping.
The Pillar Bar is in that no-mans land section of Westmoreland Street where Redz used to be. It’s been many things in between and since but none have really stuck. Here’s hoping this will be different. Find out more on the Pillar Bar or Drippin’ Gravy Instagram pages.
