We are a little bit starved for vegan options in Dublin, but here’s a list to see you through the final stretch of Veganuary, just in case you’re running out of ideas.
The notion that vegan food consists of grey, unidentifiable meat-like pucks and rabbit food is long, long gone. Today, vegan cuisine has reached such incredible heights of innovation that you can temper pretty much any craving with perfect satisfaction. From pizza to hangover food, to dessert and everything in between, the vegan food movement is in its golden age, and we are loving every bite.
You don’t need a sausage to have a smashing brekkie. Tang is among the best spots for breakfast in town, and their mushrooms on toast is a must-try. It doesn’t come vegan as standard, but just ask and they’ll happily swap out the egg for you. We’re talking a mountain of harissa oyster and chestnut mushrooms on Le Levain sourdough, drizzled with tahini sauce. A perfect way to start the day!
Vegan pizzas can often be a bit lacklustre with spongy bread topped with plasticky fake cheese. Not the case at Coke Lane which you can find at Lucky’s and The Circular. This is some of the best pizza in town for everyone to enjoy. Whether you’re vegan, lactose intolerant, or coeliac, nobody should miss out on the fun of a pizzapalooza. The tomato sauce with courgette, roasted pepper, and moreish mounds of vegan ricotta hit the spot every time. Just don’t let your meat and cheese loving friends try it, because they’ll keep coming back for more.
The Buckfast BBQ Burger is elite hangover food—or just perfect for when you’re absolutely ravenous. This masterpiece features Beyond Meat patties smashed with baby gem lettuce, crispy onions, pickles, ketchup, and mustard on a sesame bun. It will satisfy all those fast-food cravings in one bite, especially if you pair it with a side of loaded fries or hash browns.
Soft, fluffy, sweet, and bursting with warming cinnamon flavour, this roll is a hug in bun form—and it’s 100% vegan. Guaranteed to put a smile on your face, even in the depths of the gloomiest month of the year.
When you just want a little bit of everything, the plates at Brother Hubbard are a godsend. The offerings change seasonally, but you can expect a bounty of warm vegan delights like roasted squash, fresh salads, lentils, and of course, a lovely bit of bread on the side.
Pho Kim has a dedicated vegetarian/vegan section on the menu, which takes all the guesswork out of dining. A big, steaming bowl of pho is just what the doctor ordered for crisp weather—it’s hearty and delicious. Their vegan broth is served with tender, slurpable noodles and fresh veggies like carrots, onions, mangetout, and tofu for protein, topped with mint and coriander for a little extra zing.
