Whether you’re craving crispy chicken, planning a lazy luxe brunch, looking to spice things up, or simply can’t be arsed cooking, Limerick has a plethora of spots that tick plenty of boxes. In partnership with Just Eat, here’s our mood-based guide to six craving busters in the city.
Coqbull – For When The Chicken Craving Hits
Limerick has a special relationship with chicken. From never ending late night queues for the fried kind, the city takes its poultry seriously. And when the craving hits, you have options. If you’re after something a little more refined, Coqbull is one of the city’s classier chicken joints. Sure they’ve got wings and tenders, but their pièce de résistance is their rotisserie chicken. Sourced locally from the English Market, they marinate each bird in a Barry’s Tea brine, and their chicken rub is award winning.

SpitJack – The Boujee Breakfast
Listen, sometimes it’s ok, and even encouraged, to treat yourself. And nothing feels more boujee than ordering an elaborate brunch for takeaway on Sunday morning. Think of it like a fancy hotel breakfast, without having to leave the house. Order Spitjack like a gangster, dig out your fluffy robe, and bask in the concept of doing things for the plot. We only get one shot at this life.

Viko Viko – When Adventure Strikes
Playing it safe is boring. And if you’re like us and seek out adventure in the form of food at every opportunity, Viko Viko needs to be on your radar. Their menu is a mix of Korean & Vietnamese classics, with lots of fun dishes to try. Take their Mini Army Stew for example. The dish was born out of the Korean War in the early 1950s. It’s loaded with sliced beef, spam, tofu, cheddar cheese, glass noodles, sausages and mixed vegetables with sweet and spicy kimchi broth.

Sambros – When You’re WFH And It’s Too Hot To Cook
Sambros is a Limerick icon so of course it’s on the list. Sure, they do a mean burger, but they are an underrated lunch spot in our books. Open from noon until 21:30, when hunger hits during a WFH lunch and it’s too hot to cook, we couldn’t imagine a better meal than their Club House. Triple decker with cajun chicken, garlic mayo, smoked bacon and a fried egg, let’s gooooo.
Char’s Choice: The Mega Meal Deal – any Sandwich, Regular Fries and Drink.
Volcano Wings – When You Need Some Spice In Your Life
There’s literally no need for all those American chains. We have class food already in Ireland. Volcano Wings are masters of the sauce, and if spice is what you need, spice is what they have. With sauces like Nuclear, Lava, Gangnam Style, and Sriracha Mayo, it’s easy to get your head blown off here in the for, of chicken wings. All sauces are homemade, and they have an array of milkshakes to cool down with.
Char’s Choice: An order of dry wings, with Buffalo, Nuclear, and Gangnam on the side so you can have a delectable chicken wing tasting menu.
Locke Burger – The Limerick Classic
From humble beginnings in a vintage Citroёn food truck, Richard Costello cares when it comes to burgers. Locke Burger use grass-fed Black Angus and Hereford beef to create the perfect combination of chuck and rib cuts, so you know they mean business. We love their Hawaiian burger: six ounces of dry aged beef, American cheese, a beer-battered onion ring, grilled pineapple, lettuce, tomato and sriracha mayo. And of course, no order is complete from Locke Burger without a side of Chickinis. Told you Limerick has a thing for chicken.
