It’s National Dog Day!
To celebrate the holiday of our four-legged brothers and sisters, we’ve put together a list of some of our favourite pet-friendly places. From cafés to bars and restaurants, there are plenty of establishments waiting for you to embrace your furry friends with open arms and maybe even a few treats.
This is just a sample of some of our go-tos, there are countless more to explore with your puppies. on your adventures.
There’s no shortage of cafes and bars that welcome animals, but what if you want a chic, cosy date night with Rover in tow? Well, Amy Austin, is here to save the romance with her Bib Gourmand and her pet policy. Dogs are allowed in their sleek and vivacious dining room, so they can chill out and enjoy the vibes while you tuck into the eclectic menu of small plates, house cocktails, and wines.

The Fumbally is a Dublin institution and an absolute must-visit for brunch, lunch, snacks, sweet treats or even just coffee. Dogs are welcome to enjoy the homey atmosphere alongside you. Everything is freshly prepared with local ingredients, some even grown in their own garden. It’s the perfect spot for a leisurely lunch and a coffee with your furry friend.
Cool pets know that Fidelity is the place to be. While it doesn’t look like your typical dog-friendly bar, humans are often outnumbered by animals here. Cat lovers won’t feel left out either, and feathered friends have even been spotted. As long as your pet enjoys craft beers, basil margaritas, and smooth tunes, they’ll fit right in.
Table 45 is a newer addition to Dublin’s food scene, having opened in 2024. The owners, Dan Kavanagh and Dan Rivera, lived above the space when it was their local bar and decided to take it over when it went up for sale. Visiting feels like entering their home (technically you are) and their warm hospitality extends to pets too. A delicious spread of South American-inspired dishes awaits, alongside tonnes of love, attention, water and treats for your pup.

It’s nearly Sunday roast season, and The Old Spot serves one of the best in the city. Sunday dinner is family time and that includes the animal members of the crew. This gastropub offers a perfect balance of high-end options, like bluefin tuna, alongside classic pub fare such as fish and chips, all executed with refinement and elegance.
Ask any Dubliner about their favourite pub, and The Barbers will likely come up. With great character, pints, and Japanese food from Tokyo Kitchen, it’s the ideal place for quality time with your pup. Owned by the same people behind PYE, the bar is famously dog-obsessed, with a wall dedicated to their furriest (I presume) clientele.

Hynes has the charm of an old-school pub, combined with a modern Dublin quirkiness. The pub attracts a warm and eclectic mix of characters both pintmen on two legs and four. A haven for cosy winter pints or sun-drenched summer pints in the beer garden, it’s made all the better by the puppy punters in attendance. They have The Streets on site too for great Vietnamese food.
Located outside of the city centre PYE has the charm of a neighbourhood pub but the energy of a central hotspot. It’s always lively, with crowds of punters both human and canine. They have delicious pizzas, a great selection of drinks and they’ve built a reputation as one of Dublin’s most pup-friendly establishments even hosting dedicated dog events.
