Whiplash & The Big Romance are throwing a beer festival in The Mansion House this weekend

Whiplash & The Big Romance are combining forces to host the Fidelity Beer Festival this Saturday July 13, and it’s happening in the pretty spectacular surroundings of The Mansion House on Dawson street.

Three years ago Alan Wolfe and Alex Lawes started Whiplash as a side project, bringing their knowledge of brewing together and renting tanks to release small batches of beer. But by the end of 2017 Whiplash was “its very own pain in the neck” with the pair going full time with the venture. Just a couple of years later, they’re launching their very own brewery and linking up with another crew of homegrown innovators for a massive craft beer event.

The Big Romance, by the people behind Hidden Agenda, is one of Dublin’s newest watering holes, specialising craft beer and above all else good music. Their soundsystem rivals most purpose built clubs in the country, with record selectors stepping behind the decks most days of the week.

Their combined efforts have led to Fidelity Beer Festival.

“The concept is simple; you’ll arrive and check in, collect your glass at the door and head inside to sample some of the best beers from 32 of our favourite breweries assembled from all over the world alongside some special beers created by Whiplash too.”

There’s no tokens or cash needed at the event, your ticket covers everything and is all you need to sample what each brewery in attendance has on offer. According to the guys behind the festival, the majority of the breweries and beers will be doing their first ever pours in Ireland with many flying in especially from the States, Canada and Eastern Europe.

Taking place on Saturday July 13, the first session is early afternoon, with doors opening at 11.30am and an evening session starting at 4.30pm. Each will have its own unique selection of beers, alongside Big Romance DJs & more.
