Virgil Abloh’s cover art for Pop Smoke’s album to be removed following backlash from fans
Fans of the late Brooklyn drill artist shared their outrage online at cover art that was perceived to be sub-par.
The late Brooklyn rapper Pop Smoke’s post-humous debut album ‘Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon’ is due to release this Friday 3 June.
Following the drill artist’s death, his team recruited Artistic Director of Luis Vuitton Menswear Virgil Abloh to execute the album’s cover art.
However, when the cover art was shared on instagram it was met with outrage from fans who claimed it was lazy and disrespectful to the late rapper.
A petition was launched to change the album artwork and currently has 18,000 signatures. Following the backlash from fans on social media Steven-San Victor responded stating that the late rapper would have listened to his fans and there would be a change made.

‘Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon’ is set to be released on July 3.
Virgil has subsequently removed the images of the album artwork from his socials. It remains to be seen what will replace the current artwork.
