The people behind Lucky’s are opening a third bar in Dublin 8

Words: Emily Mullen

The third location is “soon to open”

Few Dublin bars have a cult following quite like Lucky’s do, the people with the lucky charms are launching a third bar.

The third location is Dublin 8 based, in keeping with Lucky’s on Meath Street and The Circular in Rialto.

Opening dates for the new spot are a bit vague, information from camp Lucky’s ranges from the bar being “soon to open” to “opening next month hopefully”.

The new bar will boast a sound system like Lucky’s, the team shared an image of the hand-drawn layout to Instagram.

Lucky’s opened in January 2018 by ex-Bodytonicer John Mahon alongside co-owners Barry O’Donoghue and Simon Conway. After spending years running The Bernard Shaw, Mahon wanted to apply everything he learned there somewhere new.

The team described their first year of trading as “tricky”, while in the years leading up to the pandemic the team “found their feet”.

Describing themselves as the opposite of a “glam cocktail joint” or “an investor-led bar group” the team have said that they aim to have an emphasis on the community through hosting regular art exhibitions, music events and creative projects.
