The Le Sfogline Nonnas Are Cooking Their Way Around Ireland

Monica and Daniela Venturi, the beloved sisters behind the world-famous Le Sfogline pasta shop in Bologna, are coming back to Ireland by popular demand. And this time they are taking Nonna’s Kitchen on the road with Birra Moretti.

If you missed out on the Nonnas’ sell-out stint in Dublin last month, do not worry. You now have another chance to pull up a chair and experience the warmth of a home-cooked Italian dinner, made with love by the queens of pasta themselves.

When the sisters brought their one-of-a-kind dining experience to Dublin last month, tickets were snapped up in just 45 minutes. Those lucky enough to grab a seat at Nonna’s table were transported straight into an Italian family home. Guests became family as they mingled over nibbles, learned to fold tortellini like pros and sat down together for a meal that went far beyond just food and drink. What Birra Moretti and the Venturi sisters capture is the simple, authentic joy of a grandmother’s love. A love that is often expressed through the language of food. Watching them prepare pasta by hand, as generations of Italian women have done before, is like seeing care itself made edible.

Who Are the Nonnas?

Daniela and Monica Venturi have been running Le Sfogline, one of the most respected pasta shops in Italy, since 1996. They began the business with their mother, Renata, who refused to retire and instead opened the shop so she could keep feeding the people of Bologna. That passion still flows through the sisters today. From dawn till dusk, they and their all-women team craft pasta by hand, keeping centuries-old traditions alive. Food lovers travel from all over the world to taste their work, tiny parcels of flavour that embody the soul of the region.

Usually, to experience their cooking, you would need to make the pilgrimage to Bologna. Thankfully Birra Moretti is bringing the sisters back to cook for their Irish “grandchildren.” It is a perfect pairing. Birra Moretti, like Daniela and Monica, celebrates life’s simple pleasures, gathering together over food and drink made with love. This time, the Nonnas are hosting events in Dublin, Cork and Galway, giving even more Irish diners the chance to enjoy their magic.

What to Expect

From the moment you arrive, you will be welcomed with a freshly poured pint of Birra Moretti and a spread of Italian nibbles. As you mingle with your new “family,” Monica and Daniela will be at their cooking stations, rolling and shaping pasta by hand. You can ask them questions, watch them work their magic, and maybe even try folding a tortellini or two yourself.

The atmosphere will be vibrant and warm, with live music bringing a celebratory feel and perhaps even inspiring a little dancing. When the food is ready, everyone will gather around the table for an authentic Italian feast, handmade and served by the Nonnas. Everything is shared family-style, making it easy to chat and connect with those around you. Of course the dishes will be paired with Birra Moretti, the perfect match for food that is simple, honest and full of heart.

You will leave not only full and satisfied from a delicious meal, but also filled with warmth and love, carrying new core memories that will last forever. To make sure you have keepsakes as well, there will be a photo corner and a gift bag to take home. Sure, you can never leave Nonna’s house empty handed.
