War on pints?
Taiwanese troops and armoured vehicles were deployed on Thursday for a mock urban street battle in the latest drill preparing forces against China. In a video shared on Twitter, you can observe soldiers running with assault rifles through a fake street, hurling smoke bombs and dodging snipers.
But what doesn’t seem fake at all is the all-too-familiar black and white branding of O’Donoghues in the background.
The design of the building in the video is uncanny in comparison to the Merrion Row institution, with the same spelling and street number above the door.
Urban warfare demo in today’s #Taiwan military drills – some 90% of the population live in cities so platoons train specifically for this scenario. In a mock up town, troops try to storm buildings guarded by snipers. & of course there’s a 7/11 for added realism pic.twitter.com/rgSitrayAJ

Although not the real O’Donoghues, its given us an insight on what to do if pints go up in price again.
Naturally, Irish politicians poked some fun over the idea that our pubs are the best place to start to bring the country to its knees.
Wait: Taiwan special forces are using a mock-up of O'Donoghues Pub on Merrion Row for their military drills? Hope they're not planning anything, but I guess if they are, it might be a good place to start! https://t.co/EsoAhE3iAp

O’Donoghues themselves also chimed in, asking the Irish defence forces if they should be concerned.
Just wondering if this is something that we should be worried about @defenceforces 😳#BattleofMerrionRow #SendHelp https://t.co/VEJdqAwjW2
