Nightclubs closed, 50% capacity and no bar service under new Nphet recommendations

Nphet has advised that new rules be given to indoor venues and events, with restrictions returning to how they were before October 22. Cabinet are meeting today to discuss how new measures will be implemented over the Christmas period.
These new recommendations by Nphet would effectively close nightclubs just six weeks after re-opening. Venues are advised to operate at a 50% capacity until January 9th.
Closing times will revert to 11:30pm and only six people will be allowed at a table in bars and restaurants. Venues will no longer have bar service and will return to table service only. It is believed that these restrictions do not apply to outdoor events.
Nphet has also advised that multiple bookings should be banned. Household visits would also be limited to four households.
Taoiseach Micheál Martin will give an address later this evening to announce the new restrictions. The Taoiseach met with the Restaurants Association of Ireland this morning to discuss supports for the industry over the holiday season.
Minister Josepha Madigan indicated earlier today that nothing is being ruled out by Government with regard to the Pandemic Unemployment Payment.
