New Tap Bar to Open This Week

Tapped, a new bar located just off Grafton Street, will focus on a unique keg selection with over fifty different taps.

The Dublin landmark pub was once much-loved as ‘Judge Roy Beans’ before opening as Porterhouse Central in 2004. The Group has announced the reopening of the venue today as ‘Tapped’, after a complete rethink, redesign and rebuild since the doors closed earlier this summer.

It will have an entrance on Nassau Street and Grafton Street. Tapped’ will boast one of Ireland’s most significant number of taps on site along their fifteen-metre bar. They say they will offer “one of the most extensive craft beer offerings” in Dublin.

The purport is to pour a selection of Irish and international beers from the “best and most interesting independent craft breweries around the world”. They will also have over fifty Craft beers available by the can. In addition, a wide range of Irish spirits will be available at Tapped. According to their Instagram, “supporting independent Irish spirits is something (they) are proud to be doing”.

Dublin 2’s forthcoming spot has teamed up with Dingle Distillery to create a premium selection of craft cocktails on tap. Theoretically, this will allow them “to serve fresh, premium, quality cocktails with a sustainable approach,” according to their post. Dingle Distillery is a Kerry-based distillery founded by the team behind Porterhouse Brewing company in 2012.

The wine will also be on tap from the award-winning Wine Lab. Founded by Ronan Farrell, WineLab is a wine merchant focusing on sustainable wines. They have become a household name thanks to their collaborations with Sprezzatura. They now work with over four hundred leading restaurant and hospitality outlets on the island of Ireland.

The venue will be a late bar and will likely feature local DJs. While no food menus have been made available yet, they look soo serve “brunch, lunch and dinner”.

Elliot Hughes, Managing Director of Porterhouse Brew Co and Dingle Distillery, said about the offerings:

“Starting with beer, it is only natural for us to offer our Porterhouse Brewery products, such as Plain, Rambler and Reit’st’s, but it’s also essential that the customer has far-reaching options. We will offer beers from independent breweries across Ireland and worldwide, including White Hag, Garage, Stigbergets, Trouble Brewing and Kinnegar. The beer menu will change weekly toe beer menu will change weekly to ensure new beers are always being introduced.”

The whole set-up is new; steel tables and shipping container pods create intimate yet edgy private seating booths. Up-cycled furniture, kegged chairs and even old TV frames, which will be used to house local Irish art, are dotted across the venue. Every piece of furniture at Tapped has been custom-made locally by Irish creatives. It’s not often a platform opens with every single element custom-made.
