New Opening: AMURI

New restaurant Amuri is a Sicilian inspired spot that just opened on Chatham Street, on top of The Corkscrew.

Amuri, which is Sicilian for love, opened last week. Their website describes itself as a “celebration of fresh, delicious traditional Mediterranean cuisine that authentic Sicilian flavours have inspired.”

Entrepreneurs and food enthusiasts Andrea and Luca opened a new spot with The Corkscrew. They took up residence in The Corkscrew’s underutilised tasting room. However, the team are proud of their roots. The menu will showcase an array of seasonal dishes. Its team of chefs will regularly update these.

The menu is extensive and varied. Amuri has designed their menu in the classic Italian style separating a fish course, pasta course, meat course, etc. In addition, guests can avail of salads, seafood, steak, and several fresh plates of pasta.

Menu highlights include Tagliolini with red tuna bottarga butter, lemon, sea asparagus, parsley dust and the Gnocchi di patate with broccoli sauce and caciocavallo Ragusano fondu. Although the lamb cutlets also sound like a dish you’d go out of your way for. Amuri does seven different starters, from seared scallops to beef tartare.

The extensive wine list consists of over a hundred and fifty wines, including cork dork favourites full of volcanic minerality from Mount Etna in Sicily.

The Corkscrew said, ‘Over the last few months, we’ve gotten to know the team. They’ve worked tirelessly to transform upstairs into a unique, authentic Sicilian Restaurant. The chefs also moved over from Sicily … Their creativity and “amuri” for food, wine and life are at the forefront of everything they do. As a result, the menu is not only creative; it’s delicious.’
