Neighbourhood Wine launch new wine class

Neighbourhood Wine has launched a new one-day wine class at their Upper Leeson St location. The wine class will be a three hour “intensive session” where students will learn to taste classics and natural wines.

The class will be an introductory level class with an informal but educational atmosphere. Most importantly it’s “not a prescriptive school type atmosphere”. It will cover grape varieties, production, how to pick a wine from a wine list and includes “a chance to ask any geeky questions”.

Neighbourhood Wine was opened in November 2020 by wine importer Shane Murphy and Master of Wine Mick O’Connell. In the year since its opening, it has become a bustling hub of the contemporary wine scene. Specialising in natural wine and small producers they bring a knowledgable joy to their work. As well as some slick low fi beats and whimsical wine posters.

The duo brings an emphasis on fostering talent in the wine community. They have a solid staff roster full of keen winos. They count winemaker Killian Horan as one of their strong team. Killian recently release his first wine The Charlatan.

They have expanded rapidly since the Leeson Street location opened and now also have locations in Dun Laoghaire and Bray. The course itself is currently only available in the Leeson Street location with no word on if it will be offered in their other stores.

Their portfolio of wines features many Irish winemakers including Roísín Curley MW’s entire range.

The course will be thought by Shane, Killian or Mick himself who currently writes a monthly wine column in the Sunday Business Post.

The Neighbourhood Wine guys host themed tastings all across their three locations. The class runs for 3 hours and there are multiple dates to choose from. It runs at €100 and includes 12 different wines.
