Le Perroquet replaced by new Vietnamese spot on Leeson Street

The same team will run the new “Indo-chine”, which will have a Vietnamese-inspired menu with chef Philip Hughes at the helm.

Nick Munier and Chris Fulham’s French “bar and comptoir” will live on in its smaller second location on Wicklow Street.

They describe themselves as a “pop-up” on Open Table, so it is unclear how long Indo-Chine will be around. According to one reviewer, the price point for lunch is around fifteen euros.

The revamped spot is on the quiet stretch of Leeson Street beyond the canal, where the strip of shops includes Forest & Marcy and an old-school barber’s shop.

Indochine is a 1992 French period drama film set in French colonial Indochina from the 1930s to 1950s. It is the story of Éliane Devries, a French plantation owner, and of her adopted Vietnamese daughter, Camille, set against the backdrop of the rising Vietnamese nationalist movement. Naming the space Indo-Chine is likely a nod to this.

Le Perroquet was a solid French Bistro style spot with contemporary takes on classic French dishes.

Indo-chine held a soft launch last week and will officially open next week. You can book a table through OpenTable.
