Popular Dublin Bar & Venue Forced to Close After Serious Fire

Words: Hannah Lemass

Love Tempo, a much-loved, music-focused neighbourhood bar on Thomas Street, has thanked the public for their support and concern following a serious fire at the premises yesterday. The team expressed their deep gratitude for the kind messages from their customers and friends and said they were shaken by the incident but ultimately relieved that nobody was hurt.

The busy street in the heart of The Liberties was brought to a standstill yesterday evening as six fire engines from Dolphins Barn and Tara Street fire stations responded to the emergency. The team at Love Tempo praised the fire services, thanking them for their incredible work, and also applauded their staff for their quick reaction to the scary situation.

The venue, which is the sister bar of The Big Romance on Parnell Street, is a lively hotspot in Dublin 8, known for its live music, including trad and jazz evenings, as well as sets from some of the best DJs in town. It’s built a reputation as one of the go-to bars for music enthusiasts.

They are also known for serving top-notch cocktails and have El Milagro in the kitchen—an independent food truck that serves some of the freshest and most authentic Mexican food around. Besides the food, drinks, and tunes, they are also active in community events like the monthly Libertine Market crawl, which sees dozens of independent traders set up stalls at pubs around The Liberties.

The team says they will have to stay closed for ‘some time’ while they appraise the extent of the damage and get back on their feet but will keep everyone updated.

We’re wishing Love Tempo all the best and hoping for a speedy return to operation.
