Hennessy partners with The Shelbourne for exclusive tastings

Hennessy and The Shelbourne hotel have come together to bring three exclusive tastings to Dublin this Spring.

At the 1824 bar in The Shelbourne, there will be three different and distinct Hennessy experiences. Two Hennessy Prestige masterclass and tasting evenings, a Hennessy Fusil Service Ritual, and a Hennessy Fire & Ice cocktail menu.

Hennessy cocktail at The Shelbourne

Strictly limited to 20 people per session, the two Hennessy Prestige tasting evenings will take place on Thursdays, 24 February and 3 March. Paul Tuohy, Moët Hennessy brand ambassador, will lead guests through tasting Hennessy V.S.O.P. Privilège, Hennessy X.O. and Hennessy Paradis. The Hennessy Presitge tasting evenings can be booked on EventBrite and cost seventy-five euros.

The Hennessy Fire & Ice cocktails are exclusively available in 1824 Bar during February and March. The menu comprises three cold drinks and two hot cocktails, all based on Hennessy Cognac and costs between seventeen and nineteen euros per drink. In addition, the menu includes a V.S.O.P. BoulevardierThe New WordIrish Connection, Blue Blazer, and a Chocolate Blazer.

Hennessy Fusil Service

The Hennessy Fusil Service Ritual is a legacy tasting event. Here guests will get to use a fusil, historically a master blenders tool similar to a pipette or dropper, to extract their desired amount of cognac directly from the Jeroboam. This comes in between eighteen and thirty-two euros, depending on the brandy extracted.

The Hennessy brand has a unique Irish heritage. Founder Richard Hennessy was the son of Lord Ballymacmoy. He joined the French army, which inflicted a famous defeat on the British-led coalition at the battle of Fontenoy in 1745 during the wars of the Austrian succession. Afterwards, Hennessy sought opportunities elsewhere in France. He settled in the Cognac region, where he could transfer the Irish expertise in whiskey distilling to the process of distilling wine to make brandy.
