According to an exterminator’s report, a fox broke into the Department of the Taoiseach looking for food and urinated all over an office. Sounds like a normal Friday night out with the lads.
Leinster House has been urged to keep its windows shut to avoid further break-ins from furry friends as foxes are regular visitors to the building.
But fox piss isn’t the only problem in the offices – dozens of exterminator reports have revealed that government buildings suffer greatly with moth infestations, dead rats, fouling pigeons, and overgrown vegetation.
The Oireachtas spent almost 65,000 euro on pest control services between January and mid-November of 2021.
Rat burrows have been discovered throughout the grounds of Leinster House and carcasses of seagulls have been found in bathrooms. The moth infestation reached a point where, early this year, the Oireachtas had to install new pheromone devices that trick moths into trying to mate with their own sex to stop them from reproducing.
