Forest Avenue to Re-open at Original Location

The team have moved Forest Avenue restaurant back to its original home at 8 Sussex Terrace. The deli and wine bar allowed them the hold on to the property through the tough past years.

Forest Avenue is a modern Irish restaurant run by passionate husband and wife team John and Sandy Wyer.

Sandy and John ran the deli and wine bar during the pandemic. They are now very happy to be back together in their original home.

Speaking to CHAR about the reopening Sandy said, “We had to do a lot of navigating during Covid as did everyone. That meant changing to fit the times we were in…We are now ready to go back to who we are since things with Covid have relaxed”.

Chef John Wyer along with his sous chef Duncan Geraghty will again be looking after the restaurant. They will be serving lunch from Wednesday to Saturday with two courses coming in at thirty-two euros and three at forty-five. Dinner will also run from Wednesday to Thursday but will be a set tasting menu for seventy-five euro with optional wine pairings.

For fans of the wine bar, they’ll be keeping some bar seats for walk-ins only, and a small bar menu will be available. So people can pop in; have a drink and a few nibbles without having to do a full menu. You won’t be able to book bar seats in advance for the bar menu. It will be strictly on a walk-in basis.

The team are also working on something new for their 126 Leeson Street upper location.

Their ten-course surprise tasting menu earned them a spot in the Michelin Guide. The food was described as being full of “punchy flavours, and vibrant colours lead(ing) the way in creative dishes, and some global influences feature too”.

Here and in their previous location, the wine list changes monthly and they also have a deli nearby. The wine list features some highly allocated growers’ champagnes. Forest Avenue carries mostly wine they import but also has a selection of other incredible producers in stock.

Forest Avenue Group works with various organic Irish suppliers and farmers to support the biodiversity of environmental practices. The team collaborate across the venue to ensure the products they provide are free from synthetic pesticides and fertilizers.

The Forest Avenue Restaurant Group includes Forest Avenue Restaurant, Little Forest, and Forest Avenue Deli.
