Independent coffee shop opens in Clare Hall

Words: Shamim de Brún

Above Ground Coffee officially opened today in Clare Hall.

Based on the Malahide road corner of Clarehall across from Eddie Rockets, the new independent coffee shop will specialise in coffees, teas, delicious pastries and sandwiches.

It’s the first speciality coffee shop in the area and has been hotly anticipated by locals.

A modern classic horsebox coffee shop, the seating area uses upcycled pallet furniture and a wealth of socially distanced outdoor benches. Moreover, the cups are compostable, the sandwiches are homemade, and the pastries are fresh.

Their coffee comes from Upside Roasters, a wholesale and online roastery based in Dublin. They use Dublin Oat, a creamy and delicious Irish gluten-free oat milk for non-dairy coffee. Making everything in their wheelhouse locally sourced supports the local economy and elevates their coffee.

It’s heartening to see small Dublin businesses supporting other small Dublin businesses with great products. This independent coffee shop is definitely worth a visit.
