Irish institution Chapters will reopen this Friday under new ownership.
Previously owned by brothers William and Ger Kinsella, they moved to their current location in Parnell Street in 2006. The new owners are former staff members from Chapter’s Middle Abbey St: Kev and Mick. The new owners are keeping on all the same staff and management.
Housed on two floors, Chapters sold an extensive range of new and second-hand books, as well as bargain-priced titles, jigsaws and stationery.

Chapters closed its doors in January after forty years. Established in 1983, Ireland’s largest independent bookstore was established, with Wicklow Street, Stephen’s Green, and Abbey Street all being former locations.
The development where the bookshop is located, the Ivy Exchange, is currently the subject of High Court disputes between the developers, who are members of the Cosgrave building family, and a management company over alleged defects in the buildings.
