Blasta Books launches ‘Tacos’ with Eatyard Session

Today is the publication day for Blasta Books’ first publication, ‘Tacos’ by Lily Ramirez-Foran. It’s a  72-page A5 hardbacked cookbook illustrated by Dublin artist Nicky Hooper.

To celebrate the launch of her new book Lily has teamed up with Eatyard and will be the first Street Sessions chef in residence. Street Sessions will be monthly chef takeovers in Eatyard, kicking off Sunday, February 13.

Lily is the founder of Ireland’s first Mexican boutique grocer and cookery school, Picado Mexican in Dublin. She has been living and cooking in Ireland for 20 years with her Irish husband and business partner, Alan. Her food showcases Mexican food beyond its clichés and misconceptions. 

Lily will be serving up an exclusive taco from her new book from 14:00 until sell out. Tacos will also be available to buy, and there will be a book reading and chat with Lily and food writer Ali Dunworth at 16:00, along with drinks specials to celebrate the event. 

Next up on Sunday, March 13, chef Paul Flynn from the Tannery in Dungarvan will take over, bringing his delicious Diamond Dogs concept to Dublin for one day only. There are plenty more Street Sessions TBA – including the Gastro Gays on May 22 cooking from their new book Hot Fat, also published by Blasta Books.

Eatyard is the food events part of Bodytonic and a permanent street food market at The Bernard Shaw in Glasnevin, Dublin 9. They run a host of events and festivals, including Sunday Sessions at Duggans curated by food writer and consultant Ali Dunworth. Eatyard has been home to and the starting point for so many brilliant food concepts over the years, including Vish Shop, Kale & Coco, Saucy Cow, Handsome Burger, Griolladh, My Goodness. Their festivals include the Eatyard Wine and Cheese and Eatyard Crisp Festival. 

The Blasta Books series was launched through a Kickstarter campaign in May 2021, which raised over €55,000 towards producing the first four books in a quarterly annual series.
