Europe’s Biggest BBQ Festival Big Grill 2023 is a “festival led by ingredients and fed by fire” and promises to bring niche, skilled, and in-depth live demonstrations, some of which have never been seen before.

Kicking it off with our homegrown talent. Fresh from his award-winning Nashville Restaurant, Locust, Trevor Moran will present a show-stopping Fire & Ice demo on Sunday.

Nico Reynolds, known from RTE’s All Fired Up, will host a charcoal masterclass on Saturday. And brace yourselves for the dream team of Aishling Moore (Goldie), Gaz Smith, and João Carlos of Michael’s. This dynamic trio will showcase the art of fin-to-tail grilling, tantalizing your taste buds with their fish cooked over fire.

Michelin magic will also grace the festival as Derry-based chefs Shauna and Mark Froydenlund. This duo were previously joint chef patrons of the 2-Michelin-starred Marcus at The Berkeley in London. They’re all set to cook up their mouthwatering Vindaloo short rib.

Jordan and Majken of Bech-Bailey will serve up some smokin’ BBQ desserts for those with a sweet tooth.

This year’s Bastecamp lineup spans the globe. The unmistakable influence of USA barbecue will make its mark with renowned pitmasters. YouTube sensation chef Brad Leone will grill oysters and smoke lamb shanks on Saturday and Sunday. Joining the American barbecue brigade is Tennessee pitmaster Pat Martin. Pat will delve into the secrets of traditional whole hog barbecue alongside Daniel Vaughan, editor of Texas Monthly.

Barbecue expert Genevieve Taylor will share her wisdom in masterclasses. UK-based Nick Weston of Hunter Gather Cook will demonstrate the art of live butchery. Prepare your taste buds for a Caribbean twist on surf and turf as food writer Melissa Thompson brings her mouthwatering flavours to the stage.

Dublin Butcher Jess Kelly and Andy Ricker of Pok Pok will be deep diving into the realm of Thai sausage. Experience Southern African Malawian barbecue with Ellie Kisyombe. Savour the legendary Argentinian grill with South American chef Mercedes ‘Mecha’ Solís, alongside Martin Anderson and Rama Basilio.

In addition to the existing exhilarating lineup of restaurants featuring CHAR Faves:Hang Dai, Bahay, Parrilla by Baste, Happy’s, Crudo, Reyna, Reggie Does Pizza and Bahay, Chimac, Dublin Pizza Company, Nan Chinese, Neighbourhood Restaurant in Naas, Pitt Bros., Saucy Cow and Scorchio Hot Dog.

Tickets for this mouthwatering extravaganza are available now on the festival’s website, www.biggrillfestival.com. General Admission tickets start at €24, plus a booking fee. Tthe General Admission + Rancho Relaxo Access package hits at €55, plus a booking fee.
