An Post is now accepting donations for Donegal tragedy

Words: Eva O’Beirne

An Post has announced it will accept donations for a charity fund to support those impacted by the tragedy in Co. Donegal.

Those who want to make a donation to the Community Support Fund will be able to do so in all 920 post offices nationwide.

All donations by cash or debit card will be transferred through the Irish Red Cross to support those who have been bereaved, injured or made homeless by the explosion.

Head of Corporate Communications at An Post, Anna McHugh said there will be no charge for any donations.

Meanwhile, a GoFundMe set up to help the families of the victims has raised over 350,000 euro despite having a target of just 20,000. The fund was set up by Gerard McFadden who lives in Brisbane but is originally from Creeslough.

He wrote on the page: “I would like to raise as much funds as possible to help the families of the deceased and injured through these challenging times ahead.”
