Festival eating has become more and more of a thing as festival food quality skyrocketed. There’s so much to choose from these days you hardly know where to start.
When you’re at a festival, you typically eat five times, once when you’ve landed and unloaded on a Friday and twice Saturday and Sunday. So here are the top 5 things to eat if you’re munching your way through ATN.
All Bar Chicken has been an under-the-radar success for a while. They’re where people on the inside go to hit that wing craving without being overcharged. Wings might be a third-tier meat, but they’re a top-tier treat. Festivals are all about that indulgent, almost primal side of modern humanity. Tearing meat off the bone with your teeth is as cavemen as it gets. They have built-in handles, taste good, and are typically deep-fried.
Hyperbolically cheese toasties are the most comforting food that has ever existed. You can hold it in your hands; it’s warm, nostalgic, filling and, most importantly, tastes good. Or at least the ones from C’est Cheese Co are. The key is their quality cheese. It’s always about the quality of ingredients, even with festival food and this team knows it.
Chinese food at a festival is next-level groundbreaking. The team at Double Happy know what they’re doing, and they do it well. They’re also wildly efficient. The queue time is next to nothing. The portions are pitch perfect. Plus, Chinese food is the cure.
Everyone knows you need to eat a burger at a festival. It’s just required. But that can mean that we end up eating burgers that are not exactly good. Phat Cow, however, makes a good ‘un. They hammer down a perfect cheese-to-beef ratio. And that is what we’re always after when we’re in gremlin mode.
Veggie Burgers are the be-all and end-all at festivals. You could subsist entirely on them, and they would undo the staying up all night on the booze. Or at least minimise the effects by giving you the nutrition you need. So desperately need.
Go forth and soirée
