Niall Sabongi announces an oyster and wine pairing series in Saltwater Grocery

Words: Emily Mullen

There’s even a shuckin’ masterclass

Saltwater Grocery has announced some top-tier events over the next couple of weeks, beginning with an oyster and wine pairing.

The event called The Return of the Native, sees guests sampling (and learning how to shuck their own) oysters from Galway’s iconic Kelly’s Oysters, washed down with wine paired by Le Caveau Wines.

The series of pairings will run across three nights, with two sittings per night, and guests will receive their shucking masterclass from either Dermot Kelly of Kelly’s Oysters or Niall Sabongi owner of Saltwater Grocery.

Sabongi has said, “this is a great way to learn about the native oysters that we stock in Saltwater and how best to prepare and pair them with our selection of Le Caveau wines”

The grocery has also announced two other events which will be taking place in the coming weeks, a bluefin tuna night with tuna cutting by a sushi master and pairings with sake and a Jamon and sherry night featuring a six-year aged Bellotta and Spanish sherry.

Bookings are now available for 7pm or 9pm on September 1, September 3 or September 4, for tickets call 01 4907900 or via Instagram DM, you can find Saltwater Grocery in Dublin 6’s 97 Terenure Road East.
