Retailing at twenty-five euros each, these limited edition tops celebrate the opening of Chimac‘s second location in Terenure but are also available in Aungier Street.
They announced the collaboration with four local artists on their Instagram today. They said,” to celebrate the launch of our Terenure branch, we asked four absolute superstar Irish artists to come up with limited edition designs for Chimac t-shirts. We could never have imagined the magic they would create – we are absolutely obsessed with the designs.”
Chimac signed the dotted line for their second location in what was Kitchen 101 back in June. Works started almost straight away. Their new second location is situated in the centre of Terenure village. Next to Mario’s and Sherry Fitz, two doors up from Saltwater Grocery.
The team are ‘excited about becoming part of the neighbourhood as we feel there is such a vibrant buzz with Lotts and Co moving in, and I believe Bujo will be just across the street, which will be great’ according to Sofie Rooney; Chimac’s Director of Operations.
The artists they worked with are Laoise FitzGerald, tattoo artist Sara / HomeJab, and Ross Carvill.
Laoise FitzGerald is a long-term Chimac lover and an Irish artist currently studying illustration in NCAD. She creates work digitally as well as through paint and collage. Her work is influenced by illustrators such as Laura Callaghan and Marylou Faure. She loves creating immersive illustrations with lots of fun and colour centring female protagonists.
“Home Jab” – or Sara, is a tattoo artist based in Dublin. Tattooing for just over a year, she works mainly with a mixed medium of single-needle machine and hand poke shading. Her work is often influenced by interiors, old collectables and embroidered designs made to look like rough sketchbook sketches. Her approach to the ‘Chimac x Cheesmore’ collab shows her love for bold illustrative elements. There’s an emphasis on typographic design.
Ross Carvill is an Irish illustrator from the foothills of the Dublin mountains. His work takes inspiration from everyday encounters with strangers to animals. From both near to far all the way to mystical lands beyond ours. As a result, the opportunity to imagine and create a mystical giant chicken for Chimac was a very exciting job for Ross!
Sinéad Killoran is a Dublin-based artist who mainly works through the medium of screen. She uses escapism in her art through energetic mark-making and exploring textures with patterns. Sinead is experimental with her prints, often seen using lots of layers mixing mono-printing with digital imagery and hand embellishments. She creates free yet considered work. This is her first time trying her hand at design work. Her prints can be found at Damn Fine Print studios and SoFine her Instagram is @sineadkilloran_art
The merch is in stores from today and available online.
