#13: Top 5 best looking things to eat in Dublin this week

Things to eat in and around Dublin from July 26th- August 2nd 2021, everything from fishy spice bags to a Maxi Twist sundae.
With indoor drinking and dining commencing on July 26th, the whole country has gone into a slight state of flux. Some businesses have opened up for indoor dining and are navigating the muddy and dense waters of the reopening stipulations, while others are continuing on with outdoor dining for a variety of different reasons. This has left some bums on inside seats and others on outdoor seats around the city, leading to quite a fair bit of head-scratching from customers and business owners alike. Dublin businesses are still serving up some amazing fare despite this period of change and transition, and to help highlight some of them we have collected the top five things we like the look of around the city (and Bray). Here are five things in Dublin this week that we like the look of:
Box Burger’s Maxi Twist Sundae
While they can usually be found slinging top class burgers, sometimes Box Burger try their hand at other things, like this take on the childhood classic Maxi Twist. Their version certainly has a bit more heft than the original Maxi Twist ice cream, filled up past the brim with vanilla soft serve and dripped with the signature bright green and red sauce toppings. Mint’s Spice Bag
Since they opened late last year, Mint have been slinging some pretty interesting things from their converted container. They have recently pulled an absolute blinder out of the bag, when they debuted their take on a spicebag. Replacing the chicken with a mix of prawn and calamari, the team out in Blackrock have paired this seafood melody with mixed greens (peppers and broccoli), fries and seasoning, then added a curry aioli dip on the side. Charlotte Quay’s Scallops
Just when you thought that the quaysider’s Summer menu was picture perfect, Charlotte Quay adds to it. The latest dish to join the menu is the roasted scallops with fennel barigoule, pear and golden raisins. Scallops that have been roasted to peak crystallisation, placed alongside the fresh strips of pear and the bursting flavour bombs of the golden raisins. CHICC’s nugg dogs
After a short break away from their Baggot Street kitchen CHICC are back with a bang. The team have reopened with some of their original menu items and some news bits. Selfishly we are glad that their dogs made a return, especially their Lemony Herb dog, packed to the rafters with tossed nuggs, tossed with preserved lemon dressing, packed with fresh herbs, shaves of parmesan, crispy capers and all tied up with a little bow and some mayo dressed shredded lettuce. Groundstate’s Carrot Cake
This carrot cake from Groundstate does not look like a carrot cake as we know it. That’s because it is a Brazilian chocolate carrot cake, which has been covered in molten dark chocolate.
