Friday Market for Phibsborough 🎉

Dublin City Council will trial a Friday afternoon/evening market in Phibsborough from May. The market will be located at the linear park on the Royal Canal Bank between Blessington Street Park (The Basin) and Phibsborough Village.
In an interview with Dublin Live, Cllr Declan Meenagh said: “Dublin City Council has markets in several parks, like in St Anne’s Park in Clontarf. I think it’s really exciting for the area. There will be food and groceries, and it will just bring a bit of life to that park. It is quite busy already, and a lot of people go there. It’s right next to the Basin. So it’s a really good idea. It’s looking like it will be in May. We’re still figuring it out.”
Cllr Meenagh added, “There are lots of great businesses around Phibsborough. We’ve got Noms, the zero waste food shop, and all cafes like Bang Bang and Two Boys Brew. So there’s a lot in the area, and I’m sure they’ll be delighted to contribute to this.
“To be honest, I would like to see a lot of the parks have markets. I think that there is quite a lot of potential. It’s being sensitive to the park. It’s temporary. We’re not just putting it up full time. I think it will animate it a bit. It will be nice for people coming out of work for the weekend. It leaves the park free on Saturday for people.”
This announcement comes shortly after confirmation was released last week that the Bushy Park Market will return for its weekly Saturday Markets from March until October.
