There may have been fewer people than expected passing through the arrivals of Dublin Airport but the scenes at the arrivals gate were no less emotional for that.
Amid tightening restrictions and fears around the Omicron variant, it has undoubtedly been a stressful time, and a TikTok recording families being reunited in Dublin Airport has perfectly captured the relief of finally coming home for Christmas.
The clip, uploaded by @cerriizz, contained the iconic voiceover of Hugh Grant from the 2003 festive flick, whose words remind people that love can be found everywhere.
He says whilst the people are hugging: “If you look for it, I’ve got a sneaky feeling that love is actually is all around.”
One user commented: “My aunt, uncle and cousins couldn’t come home for Christmas and it really took a toll on me. Seeing other people’s happiness makes me smile, thank you.”
Another chimed in: “That’s going to be me tonight! I’m that terminal, getting off the plane and running to my dad”.
The TikTok currently has over 150,000 views and 40,000 likes.
