Nigella Lawson made a coddle to celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day and it scandalised the most passionate section of Irish Twitter; The Coddle Police.
Nigella Lawson is an English food writer and television chef. She is the daughter of Nigel Lawson, Lord Lawson of Blaby, a former Conservative Chancellor of the Exchequer. Nigella is known for her sensual cooking style and unusual pronunciation of the word microwave.
This week’s Guest Recipe from the #CookbookCorner archive is this hearty Dublin Coddle from Ireland for Food Lovers by Georgina Campbell. The book is out of print now, but do go the @IrelandGuide website for more recipes and lots more! https://t.co/aAxXYEPHoZ pic.twitter.com/bC8b1QNj9n

The Coddle Police came out in force with their rules of what Dublin’s most polarising dish should be
100% not coddle. Coddle is ham or bacon pieces, potatos water and boiled sausages. Carrots if you are fancy. Some broth based coddles have lentils and arent thick like this thick one. pic.twitter.com/9QPFHGIMQx

What is coddle is definitely elusive and difficult to describe but this guy gave it a go
Very definitely not a #Dublin #coddle

Has to have pink boiled willies, rashers, onions, potatoes and carrots. Should look disgusting but taste fab. @Nigella_Lawson you have to come to Dublin and learn how to make coddle properly.☘️☘️☘️☘️🇮🇪
Happy St. Patricks Day.
It’s well known to the Irish that you DON’T piss off The Coddle Police so Gaz of Michaels Mount Merrion wished Nigella the luck.
Bold move entering coddle twitter @Nigella_Lawson I wish you safe passage in dark n dangerous waters 🤣

She might not be a widow but I think she’ll regret this
No no no no no no no Nigella; there’s a reason coddle’s alternate name is The Widow’s Regret pic.twitter.com/2ldUR1BhPx

How would the daughter of a Tory know?
Occidentalism is fascinating.

‘British Coddle’.
Do you think she had to google Culshie?
If it doesn’t repulse Culchies it ain’t coddle.
