Words: Hannah Lemass
From spring lambs to nettles, craft beers, and of course sacred cows, there’s no shortage of tasty elements in the tale of our patron saint of poetry.
We all know the story of Brigit. She’s everyone’s favourite saint, not least of all because she won us an extra bank holiday. She’s some woman for the miracles, but did you know food and drink actually play a big role in the story of St Brigit?
On February 3rd, food writers Ali Dunworth and Santina Kennedy will be on hand to talk us through the foods and drinks of St Brigit, exploring and explaining these foodie connections. Of course, they’ll also offer tasters from some of Ireland’s top artisan food and wine producers.
Brigit’s Table will take place at Meeting house Square on February 3rd as part of the broader Brigit Festival, and tickets cost €5 on eventbrite. The festival runs from January 31 to February 3, with over 90 events celebrating women’s contributions to culture, society, and history, honouring the legacy of Brigit. So, even if you miss out on a ticket for the tasting, there will still be plenty to see and experience.
