Allta opens Glovebox in carpark

An immersive art gallery and cocktail lounge has arrived in Dublin; Glovebox. Located on level 5 of Trinity car park in the centre of Dublin this new spot serves snacks and cocktails by Allta. Home to a bespoke Toby Hatchett sound system it’s sure to have those winter vibes covered.

To get to Glovebox enter Trinity car park from Dame Lane and take the lift to the fifth floor. “Carpark” makes it sound like it would be cold but Glovebox is a fully covered and heated indoor venue.

The name is in tribute to the space itself. A glovebox is a sealed container that is designed to let you manipulate objects to separate and change the atmosphere.

Allta was originally a Dublin wine bar on Frederick Street. They relocated to Slane Castle in Meath this summer for a two-month sellout stint. Continuing on from their successful summer dalliance the winter house will be a 12-course convivial dining experience cooked over fire.

The walls are decked out in art curated by Ronan Dillon. Dillon is a Dublin-born artist, living on the west coast of Ireland. His work has been particularly inspired by the uninhibitedness of farmers’ marks, their unconscious and reasoned actions creating something raw and beautiful. That all comes together on the walls of this newly tamed urban jungle.

It’s a new playful and fun home for contemporary culture in Dublin. You can book now for their first weekend now. On Thursdays and Fridays, they are open from 4 pm and on Saturdays and Sundays, they’re open from 1 pm. They’ll have a live DJ on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays too.

Continuing on from their successful summer dalliance the winter house will be a 12-course convivial dining experience cooked over fire. The lounge tables for cocktails and snacks are limited to groups of four, five or six people, with a 15 euro per person booking deposit required. This is redeemable against your final bill. If you want to book larger parties you should get in touch directly.

Speaking about the new venture, Niall Davidson of Allta said: “It’s been a daunting, tricky but very exciting project and we can’t wait to introduce the final part, Glovebox. We’re only in this car park for a short time, so we wanted to make it memorable, special and different, while also reflecting some of the things outside food in which we all share a deep interest. We’ve been lucky to have had the support of BCP Capital who have understood our vision and been as passionate as us in bringing it to life. “
