Conbini Condiments are popping up at Hens Teeth

Holly Dalton and the Combini Condiments team will be taking over Hen’s Teeth on Sunday, 25 of September for a Japanese convenience store-inspired menu.

This is a one-day-only affair where guests can expect “Onigiri, Sandos and some convenience store favourites”. DJ Emmy Shigeta will be spinning city pop and ambient tunes to set the mood.

Talking to CHAR about the pop-up Holly Dalton, founder of Conbini Condiments, said she had been working on the pop-up with the Hen’s Teeth team for a little while. She said, “I always wanted to do a pop-up in there with them” because they had been one of the first companies to take on Conbini Condiments.

Commenting on Hen’s Teeth she said “it’s just a great space. I’d done a pop-up there. I’d helped Jess with her pop-up there for Kai and I kind of saw how the kitchen worked and I was like; great. Okay, this would be perfect for the community pop-up.

Holly is excited to get back in the kitchen for this pop up becuase she’s “very much a chef at heart”. The sauces are just part of what she is about. She hasn’t a space of her own so this pop means she gets to bring more of her concepts and passions to the people of Dublin. She said, “this is like a great way to get people to try Japanese convenience stores food, which I’m obsessed with”. Obviously, she did name her business after it.

The aim is to create a Sunday chill atmosphere where you go to the convenience store, pick up a few bits. Where the bits just happen to be Japanese style with Irish ingredients.

According to Holly this is a first for Dublin. She said, “There’s definitely never been anything like this before in Dublin. It’s not fine dining or anything like that. It’s going to be very, very casual. It’s literally just like, kind of best of Japanese convenience store food which I’ve never seen on any menus and Dublin so I think it’s going to be good and very special. Very different”.

Best part is you don’t need to book or get tickets. All you need to do is pop in and try whatever tickles your fancy. While official prices have yet to be published everything is erring on the side of affordable with dishes starting around a fiver and peaking at twenty or so.
