Words: Shamim de Brún

Dublin’s BAR 1661 has been named one of the top 10 Regional Honourees in the Spirited Awards 2023, which is one of the most respected awards in the hospitality industry.

The Dublin 7 bar has been nominated for the Best International Bar Team in Europe category and has been placed among the best bars from cities including Athens, Barcelona, Berlin, Cardiff, and London. Another newcomer in Cork, Paladar, has also been nominated as a Regional Top 10 Honouree for Best New International Bar, marking the first time that two Irish bars have been nominated for the awards in the same year.

The winners will be announced during the Tales of the Cocktail Conference in New Orleans from July 23-28, 2023. BAR 1661 has been striving to elevate Irish cocktail culture to new levels and to promote poitín to the world. The bar has been successful in bringing poitín globally, including America and Asia, through various collaborations and events.
