#16: Top 5 best looking things to eat in Dublin this week

Words: Emily Mullen

Things to eat in and around Dublin from August 23 to August 29, everything from gold-leaf encrusted champagne strawberry shortbread to pineapple carpaccio.

We have collected some of the most delectable foods being sold in Dublin right now, and compiled them into a big ol’ list. Here are five things in Dublin this week that we like the look of:

5.

Baste’s Bitterballen

The inclusion of bitterballen on Baste’s menu is a little bittersweet, since this is there final week in their Clanbrassil Street Upper location. The uniquely Dutch snack, has been given a Baste-twist, by deep-frying balls made from our Angus beef ribs, bread and butter pickles and pairing them with a honey mustard dip. You can find Baste in Portobello’s 39 Clanbrassil Street Upper, until August 29th for more information on their closing weekend BBQ visit their Instagram account.

Beef and Lobster’s Lobster brioche

Lobster rolls have been having a bit of a moment lately, but Beef and Lobster’s roll has set itself apart from the posse. A great big slab of warm brioche with a pocket cut down the middle that’s been fitted with a lobster meat mixed with citrus mayo, lemon and garlic butter. You can find Beef and Lobster in Temple Bar’s 39-40 Parliament Street, for more information visit their Instagram account.

Arden’s Larder’s Afternoon Tea

Beginning in Belfast, Arden’s Larder have recently launched their successful Afternoon Tea boxes in Dublin. The boxes (which include a veggie box option) have everything you need for a relaxing meal (and then some), with an amazing array of sweet and savoury options included in the hefty box. The box includes some Northern Irish classics like the mini-15s and caramel tablets. Cofounder Barbara was taught to bake by her grandmother who is the inspiration behind the company, and Barbara’s talent for baking really shines through in her products. Arden’s Larder are available for deliveries around Dublin, visit their website or Instagram for more information.

The Fat Fox’s Champagne Shortbread

Let’s just overlook the fact that Greystones and Delgany are in Wicklow for a hot minute. Since The Fat Fox’s latest dessert special deserves an inclusion in this list. Three rings of shortbread, layered with a strawberry and champagne inflused gel and finished off with some gold leaf. You can find The Fat Fox on the Church Road, Delgany and 1 Trafalgar Road, Rathdown Lower, Greystones, follow them on Instagram for more information.

Fowl Play’s Pineapple Carpaccio

This BBQ restaurant isn’t all smoke and fire, they can do some delicate things with some exotic fruits, as attested by their latest dessert, the smoked pineapple carpaccio. Describing it as their “hot new desert” the team based out in Dublin 2, have created a smoked pineapple carpaccio, paired it with mango, passion fruit and kiwi dressing and then topped it with coconut and lime foam. You can find Fowl Play at Dublin 2’s 45 Hogan Place, for more information follow them on Instagram.
