Asahi Super Dry is Hosting an Exclusive Dining Event at Yamamori Izakaya

Words: Hannah Lemass

Asahi Super Dry is teaming up with Yamamori Izakaya to host a delicious evening of Japanese flavours and hospitality.

On Thursday, October 24th, Yamamori Izakaya will play host to an exclusive dining event, featuring a carefully curated three-course tasting menu. Each course will be expertly paired with the iconic Japanese beer Asahi Super Dry and a selection of premium sake.

Asahi Super Dry is the quintessential beer. It’s clean, crisp, and refreshing. It’s as bright as the morning sun its named after. It pairs perfectly with anything and everything. Seriously, a pint of Asahi Super Dry complements everything from sushi to coddle and anything in between. It’s the perfect companion to any meal, but will particularly shine alongside the flavours of the night.

This event isn’t just a bit of grub and some drinks; it’s a chance to dive deep into some of Japan’s most celebrated drinks and the culinary traditions surrounding them. You’ll be guided through the menu, learning that there is so much more to Japanese gastronomy than just teriyaki chicken and California rolls.

What’s on the Menu?

Yamamori is the pioneer of Japanese cuisine in Dublin, and they’ve put together a stunning line-up for the evening. The dishes will be a mix of fan favourites and authentic delicacies that you won’t find just anywhere. Paired beautifully with the crisp refreshing taste of Asahi Super Dry.

We kick things off with a sushi selection—tender salmon nigiri, scallop nigiri, and salmon avocado norimaki. Sushi and sake are a match made in heaven, and here you’ll be sipping on Kikumasamune Junmai Kojo. This sake has crisp apple notes and a delicate sweetness that perfectly balances the buttery richness of the fish.

Next up is the ultimate crowd-pleaser: gyoza. A mix of steamed and crispy fried pork dumplings will be served with a delicious dipping sauce that’s good enough to drink by the bucketful. This round is accompanied by Kikumasamune Tokkuri Taruzake, a very special cedar-aged sake that gives an earthy flavour with a spicy kick which wonderfully contrasts the garlicky goodness of the gyoza.

The main event is Chicken Nanban. Haven’t heard of it? Well, you’re in for a treat. I used to live in Japan and let me tell you, this is the dish I miss the most. It’s a more contemporary Japanese dish, invented in the mid-20th century. A blend of Japanese and Western flavors, it features fried chicken doused in a sweet but tangy vinegar-based sauce, topped with creamy tartar sauce. I know, I know—chicken with tartar sauce sounds crazy, but trust me, it’s a beautiful thing. Sweet, sour, rich, and incredibly comforting, particularly in the cold, crisp autumn weather. This dish perfectly represents the merging of Japanese and Western influences, making it an ideal centrepiece for the evening. It’s paired with Dassai 45 Daiginjo, a sake that brings honeydew melon aromas and light tropical flavours to your palate.

Party Bella Festa

But the fun doesn’t stop at the food. After dinner, the celebration continues downstairs in Yamamori’s Izakaya basement, where David Diamond from DJ collective Bella Festa will keep you buzzing with beats until late. It’s the perfect way to cap off an evening that’s all about experiencing the vibrant culture of Japan—without having to pack a suitcase.
