The activists inside James Connolly House on Eden Quay are now facing eviction from Gardaí and private security.
A number of activists from the Revolutionary Workers Union and other republican socialists took over the abandoned hostel on May 1 in protest of state neglect and the housing crisis. The occupants are using the building to offer shelter to homeless people in Dublin.

According to the activists, the deceased owner of the building said it should “never be closed while homelessness remains an issue in Ireland.” The plough and the stars flag is currently flying above the building at half-mast to symbolise the 15,000 people who have passed away due to “state neglect”.
Due to the Gardaí and security presence at the building, the occupants have asked for assistance to prevent their eviction.
