Man driving a van full of ecclesiastical supplies drives into Russian Embassy

Reports described a man reversing the truck through the gates around 13.00 today.

Today, RTÉ reports that a man driving a van full of ecclesiastical supplies reversed through the gate of the Russian Embassy in Dublin.

The Russian embassy released a statement shortly after describing the incident as “a criminal act of insanity directed against a peaceful diplomatic mission” and said they see it as a “a clear and blatant violation of Article 22 of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic relations of 1961”.

According to eyewitnesses the man driving the truck was said to hand out images of Ukrainian victims of the ongoing invasion. He was arrested shortly after.

In another video shared on social media, the driver leaves the truck hands out images of victims of the invasion of Ukraine before saying, “I want the ambassador and his colleagues to leave this country, this free country and go back to Poland where he has no freedom”.
